The Best of Both Worlds, and a Baby Nicknamed Nikocina

I’ve been going to Mi Cocina for years. I grew up in a Mexican household but was raised here in Texas, and somehow Mi Cocina has always felt like the perfect blend of both parts of who I am. Every visit reminds me of the warmth and hospitality of Mexico while celebrating the Texas I call home. When our son Niko was born, one of my friends started calling him “Nikocina” because everyone knows how much I love this place. The nickname stuck because, just like Mi Cocina, he’s a beautiful blend of two worlds: a Mexican mom and an American dad. Mi Cocina has been part of so many celebrations throughout my life, and now it’s becoming part of my children’s memories too.
