A Blind Date, a Patio Table, and a Mi Cocina Love Story

Our Mi Cocina story began on a Sunday morning in the middle of the pandemic. I’d been set up on a blind date with a pilot who happened to be in town, and we met on the patio at Mi Cocina in Southlake Town Square, at a table in the back corner. I mentioned I’d come from church, so he skipped ordering a Mambo Taxi. Since he didn’t order one, I assumed he was a teetotaler and politely skipped one myself. We were both accidentally presenting the most responsible versions of ourselves.

On May 2, 2021, the morning after our wedding, we returned to that same table on the Southlake patio. On June 21, 2023, a Mambo Taxi was delivered to my hospital room as my first meal after giving birth to our daughter. Since then, Mi Cocina has been woven into the fabric of our family. Both of our daughters dipped tortilla chips into salsa before they could even walk. Some families have heirlooms. We have a Mambo Taxi ornament on our Christmas tree and a patio table in Southlake where it all began.
