Ten Years of Birthdays and Best Friends at Mi Cocina
I’ve celebrated my birthday at Mi Cocina every year since I moved to Dallas from Kansas in 2015, with family, friends, boyfriends, co-workers, and everyone in between. In 2020 I planned to have Mi Cocina cater my 30th birthday, Mambo Taxi machine and all, but COVID had other plans. The following year, I invited a few new friends to a birthday lunch, some of them just Facebook friends I’d never met in person. We bonded over Mi Cocina and Mambo Taxis, and they turned into my absolute best friends. I was just a bridesmaid in one of their weddings last month.
Mi Cocina is where we go for good news, bad news, to catch a game, or to celebrate. It’s the first place I take out-of-town guests. My friends and I have run Mambo Miles every year since it started, and we can’t wait for this year. There’s no restaurant I’ve spent more time at since I moved to Dallas. Mi Cocina forever.
