Growing Up Across the Street from the Original Mi Cocina
Let me set the scene: I’m a 35-year-old woman who grew up across the street from the original Mi Cocina at Walnut Hill and Skillman, so I have quite literally known you my entire life. As our family grew (I’m the second of four kids), we would cross the street, climb the tree (if you know, you know), and eat queso every Friday night and for every birthday and celebration through the years. My dad was always fond of saying they’d hold our hands crossing the street to Mi Cocina, and we’d have to hold their hands guiding them home after a few Mambo Taxis. I now live in Austin, faithfully waiting for your first location there, but Mi Cocina is still a staple every time we kids, who now have kids of our own, come home.
